Practice makes perfect
To ensure the quality and efficiency of your driving education we recommend lots of private practice driving. The Norwegian Public Roads Administration recommend at least 140 hours of driving before your practical exam. It is recommended that you contact a driving school with your companion when you turn 16. This will give you enough time to practice correctly and sufficiently before you turn 18. A driving school will also provide you with tasks to complete with your companion. At the minimum you should learn to stop the car quickly and effectively from 80km/h before you start practice driving in a car without an extra set of pedals.

To start practice driving you must be 16 years of age and have completed the basic traffic course. – Read more and book the basic traffic course here.

Frequent driving lessons
You can learn a lot from practicing with your companion, but don't wait too long between lessons with a driving teacher. The instructor will take you through all the required steps on your journey to the driver's licence. Therefore, it is important to book driving lessons often. If you have the opportunity, we recommend that you complete all the mandatory lessons at 16. Then you can practice as much as possible with your companion until the day you turn 18 and are ready to complete your practical exam.
